AIA Long Beach and South Bay Private Residence tour - May 2025
The tour explores the transformation of a 1929 Spanish bungalow in Long Beach’s Zaferia district into a multigenerational home that balances privacy, shared living, and historical context.
The tour also showcases stucco and metal panels as tools for contemporary single-residence renovations.

The project was designed by Khannah Shultz, and the weathered steel panels were provided by Dissimilar Metal Design. Neme Design Studio supported the team through design assist, shop drawings development, and fabrication layouts.

The Ledger City Center Project wins the 2024 North American Copper in Architecture (NACIA) award by the Copper Development Association
The Ledger City Center project, featuring 50,000 square feet of custom-engineered, fabricated, and finished Copper by Dissimilar Metal Design, has been awarded the 2024 North American Copper in Architecture (NACIA) award by the Copper Development Association. Neme Design Studio provided custom detailing, engineering, and fabrication layouts for the copper scope.

Development Ramps Up in Downtown Bentonville, Arkansas, With 'Bikeable' Mixed-Use Building
The “world’s first” bikeable building, was completed in late 2022 in the small Arkansas city of Bentonville. The six-story building has a ramp for cyclists and pedestrians built into its east side, with large terraces flanking its north and south ends. A long rectangular volume framed in steel, sheathed in glass, and clad with patinated-copper panels, Ledger’s design is the initial result of a collaborative effort between Marlon Blackwell Architects, based in nearby Fayetteville, and WeWork’s Ground Up Studio.

A highly detailed structural 3D model directly impacts the MEP model. By repeating iterations between the initial design and the final shop drawing, the team was able to optimize the MEP routing and reduce materials by 30%. Because the model reflects exactly what would be built and eliminated the chance of last-minute changes, everything could be ordered to fit, ultimately eliminating waste.
